The Most Important Relationship is with Yourself

You may be experiencing difficulties with your personal or work-related relationships; however, the most important one is with yourself. Often, as children, there are unmet emotional needs resulting in feelings of guilt, deep rooted shame and low self-esteem that can be carried on in adulthood. The stories are yours, but they do not need to be relived in your mind, as this keeps you stuck and without hope. With facilitated equine experiential learning horses provide the opportunity to identify and explore your inner truth in a safe and non-judgmental space as you peel away the psychological and emotional layers and self-destructive beliefs. A deep heart connection often follows as you step into your empowered, authentic self. The more you discover about yourself, what you’ve been through and were you want to go, you will begin to identify the behaviors that have kept you from living a connected and phenomenal life.

I’ve spent countless hours journaling in a field among horses, their presence helped me connect with a past that needed to be cleared up before I could move on. I grew up in an environment of chaos which stole much of my childhood, I’m ok with this now, but I did carry anger for a long time. The memories were kept alive because I did not know how to let them go. This tarnished some of my relationships, but it was most destructive to the relationship I had with myself because it kept me in a place of sadness, judgment and an unbelievable need for perfectionism. Pen in hand, I poured my heart out on those blank pages and it felt good. I was ready to be at peace with what was and welcome the new person that was blossoming with a sense of real joy, gratitude and serenity. Letting go of the past does not happen overnight but it does happen if we are willing to change our way of thinking and know exactly how we want to feel.
